Stay, a fresh new band from Massachusetts, headlined a show along with other bands from the Massachusetts area last Monday at Harper's Ferry in Allston.
The crowd in the bar/venue was small, but that made it so much easier to be able to talk to the bands before their sets would start.
Members of Stay were at their merchandise booth talking happily and freely with fans during the show before their set.
The lead singer, Anthony R., stated that he is so grateful for all the fans that Stay has gained over their time as a band, and how supportive they have been. The band is hoping that more people will listen and enjoy their music that they are so energetic and passionate about.
Stay has only released an EP album and a few other songs, but in early November they will begin recording in New York for their first full-length album. Stay played the few songs that they have from their EP, "The Hustle" (2008), which is now available on iTunes. Once they played their single "Coming Home" fans began singing along and rocking to the upbeat music. Other audience members who had never heard of them cozied up to the new band and their astounding new alternative sound that mixes rock, pop and some slight screaming, as found in "Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis."
Stay's EP, "The Hustle" has a unique sound that will get this band places. The single "Coming Home" is a great intro to the EP, with catchy lyrics and an upbeat rhythm. "Molly K's" and "Move Jamie Move" have a more rock sound than the first track. The EP ends with "The Great American Hustle," which has more of a raw-rock style mixed with pop, such as the other track "Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis."
Overall, each of the six tracks on the EP have a different rock sound and make any fan anticipate to hear more from this band.
There are also some newly released demos on the band's Purevolume site, including "Bella" and "Breathing," which show the band's versatility with their softer side. If you like the sounds of Cartel, the attitude of Boys Like Girls or the words of All Time Low, Stay's "The Hustle" is the one EP you won't want to miss. This new release filled with emotional ballads and pop-punk anthems will make any rocker want to intensely dance along.
The show began with Us Against The Archers, another band from Massachusetts, with a screamo style, who were just as interested in the fans as Stay was, standing at their merchandise booth chatting with any fan that wanted to make small talk and learn more about the band. Teamwork played next, having an upbeat sound and personality which made the music easy to jump and dance to.
Finally Lions Lions played screaming and full of energy, getting the audience ready for Stay.
This alternative rock band is appearing onto the scene quickly. They are very dedicated and grateful to their fans; they really want to make them happy and get to know them.
They recently released free song downloads on their Purevolume account and will be playing in Boston again for Fox 25 News Channel Morning Show on Friday, Oct. 24.
