Sarah the Terrible

In her acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, Sarah Palin stated that "We grow good people in our small towns, with honesty and sincerity and dignity." She accredited this statement about rural America to a 'writer.' Why the anonymity? Simple - it was a quote by Westbrook Pegler, an ultra-right wing racist bigot!
Pegler was a famous columnist from 1933 until the late 60's, and was notorious for his radical beliefs. He was a leading figure in the backlash against the New Deal and the protections it extended towards unions. He advocated the "smashing" of the AFL and CIO suggesting the state take them over. "Yes, that would be fascism," Pegler wrote. "But I, who detest fascism, see advantages in such fascism."
Perhaps his most endearing statement was about Robert Kennedy in 1965, while Kennedy was considering running for president. He remarked, "[I hope] some white patriot of the Southern tier will spatter his spoonful of brains in public premises before the snow flies."
Besides quoting racist anti-union bigots, Palin also enjoys supporting fundamentalist Evangelical agendas. Besides the normal book banning, gay-bashing and anti-abortion protests, Palin had also pushed for the Evangelical take-over of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough school board.
"She wanted to get people who believed in creationism on the board," said Munger, a music composer and teacher of the Mat-Su Borough.
Munger also described a conversation between Palin and himself, "I pushed her on the earth's creation, whether it was really less than 7,000 years old and whether dinosaurs and humans walked the earth at the same time. And she said yes, she'd seen images somewhere of dinosaur fossils with human footprints in them."
Even more ridiculous and terrifying was her response to Munger's inquiry about whether she believed in the concept of biblical Armageddon. "Yes," she said. "I think I will see Jesus come back to earth in my lifetime."
Besides quoting racists, believing that the earth began 7,000 years ago, banning books, shutting down medical practices that perform abortions and believing that Jesus Christ is going to return to earth, she's a great candidate. Oh I almost forgot - she also fired Mike Wooten, an Alaskan state trooper that divorced her sister. When Commissioner Walt Mongen refused to fire Wooten, Palin fired him as well. What a wonderful woman. God bless you, Sarah Palin, God bless you.
