Graduation has typically been the highlight of the senior year experience. But this spring, seniors may have something else to anticipate with enthusiasm - Senior Week.

A week traditionally chocked full of events dedicated to members of the graduating class, Senior Week is getting revamped in a big way.

Usually held one week before graduation, Senior Week is the seven-day-long going away party for those soon-to-be Suffolk alum.

In past years Senior Week has included a wide range of events. Most recently included were dinner and a show at The Medieval Manor, as well as a trip to Atlantic City.

This year, however, the Senior Class Council, comprised of senior members of the Student Government Association, have opted to scale back the number of events for Senior Week; their approach?

A few big-bang events, rather than many smaller events. "I feel as thought if we had two or three major events going on that week we'd be able to have a better response to it," said Jess Pappas, president of the SGA and senior class.

Pappas felt that last year's Senior Week schedule was perhaps too condensed for students with a hectic schedule that week in particular.

"It's difficult to gauge the success of a Senior Week event," said senior class treasurer and class representative Chris Aguiar, "because seniors have so many things to do."

Time management aside, another reason for the lower number of programmed events is the fact that the events are bigger this year, with one major event being the highlight of the Senior Week experience.

One of the more high-profile events on the bill for Senior Week is a concert by Tim Reynolds.

Reynolds will bring his eclectic blend of music to the C. Walsh Theatre, which can be heard on the 1999 CD, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds Live at Luther College, a collection of live acoustic music.

Having Reynolds as a confirmed event is exciting news to fans and an accomplishment for Pappas and Aguiar. "Jess and I have been wanting to have a concert here for a long time," said Aguiar.
